Yoda Sandstorm by jasonedmiston Yoda Sandstorm by jasonedmiston
Yoda self promo painting based on a character sketch by Ken Lashley (comic book artist and Hasbro toy packaging artist).

20" x 16" acrylic on paper

I tried challenging myself on this one by using someone else's penciled figure, designing a background, figuring out lighting and proper shading, and finally rendering it in full colour. I normally work alone, but thought I'd see how an artist in a cooperative studio might work.

Fantastic work on this . Beautifully rendered details such as the folds in his robe and the markings in the sand, nice highlighted effects coming from the light sabre. Just another stellar piece of work ...keep it up!

Thanks Rosie!
I get most of the light and shadow established, then go in with a toothbrush with dark and light, then go over it all with delicate washes to knock it back a little and blend it all together so it's not as obvious.
Thanks for your comments!
