Anyone here remember the first line of dialogue from any ape? It was right about here in the movie :)

The first word an ape said in the Apes movies was "Smile!" I believe. Wink/Razz

I love the expressiveness you gave to the apes, actually far better than the stiff masks from the movie. Something endearing about it. They were posing for a picture right?

Only men in that pile-up. It's taken from a specific scene in POTA. Thanks for the compliment!

ah re watched it makes sense now sorry for the stupid question lol

nice to meet another 'member of the Commonwealth' lol

one of my relations who served in the RAAF was trained in Canada,at a place called Fort Mcloud (no idea where it is) while part of the EATS (BCTAP).
He loved the 'Canucks' and also Canada in General,he was killed 12 Jan 1945 after his Lancaster was shot down with no survivors - so near the end.

I have researched most of his Canada time now so if you look up Ian Stewart Ross RAAF 18839 in my WIP part of my album you can read more about him (if that's something your interested in and his time in Canada and how he got there from Aussie etc).

thanks again

Stellar stuff! I guess you are familiar with Bob Larkins POtA cover work? I have a collector friend who has some 12 of his originals, but I wont show him this coz he'll be over your house begging you to tell him where this piece is so he can steal it. Aces and a big ape thumbs up!

I am Dave! His work and his contemporaries influenced me a lot.

Thanks for the compliment. It was a lot of fun to paint. I'm thinking of another "ripped from the movie" scene. Imagine Indiana Jones from his perspective (like an FPS game), showing one hand holding a bag of sand, and another about to grab the fertility idol from the opening sequence from Raiders.
It'd basically be a portrait of the idol, with his hands as supporting elements.

Cool! Like the sounds of that one. The Indiana Jones idol is fun to paint - I did one recently on my mock ad for 'Bzrk' - always enjoy metals like that.

Jason,

I've been a lifelong fan of POTA and THAT is one of the most jaw-dropping, mouthwatering slice of art I've ever clapped eyes on!

Takes me back to the 70's and the art of Bob Larkin on those old Marvel Black and white magazines.

Absolutely, gob-smackingly, beautiful!

Wow. That's a great compliment. I have a few of those books, and have always loved the art on the covers. Thanks so much!
